E-Commerce
Information
It is a fact that E-Commerce sites lose almost half of their potential
sales because users cannot navigate the site easily. This cannot be stressed
enough. We all think that the more sophisticated our site is, the more it will
appeal to users... Guess again. Take a look at Yahoo.com, Google.com or
Ebay.com, just to get an idea of how simple your site should be. The easier a
user can find his way around, the better your conversion will be so long as you
have the back-end in place. All too often websites are either designed so that
they are pretty to look at and full of impressive features, or are too generic
and lacking professionalism. What these websites have in common is that they
fail in the single most important aspect: to meet the needs of the customer. It
is surprising to see how many sites omit vital information or lack a clear site
navigation. For Example: the user arrives at your
site after searching for a eminem's newest cd, which you sell. When they arrive,
show them the cd, with options they are looking for- review, and the ability to
buy or to sell the cd. Forget telling them about how fantastic your users think
the site is. Show them! Most sites make the user search for the
product again and nothing can be more frustrating... and frustrated users
leave.Having a well-built website is only part of a
successful e-commerce operation. It has to be backed-up by business processes
that contribute to a great overall customer experience:
Efficient fulfillment and reliable shipping.
Consistent and quick customer service. Secure and
reliable hosting. Appropriate online marketing
campaigns.
